Edward Snowden calls US Department of Justice lawsuit filed against him “good news for bitcoin”
Former US National Security Agency (NSA) employee Edward Snowden hinted that he was ready to transfer his funds to bitcoins in order to avoid their confiscation by US authorities.
Asylum-seeker in Russia, Snowden published a personal file. The US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the author, accusing him of violating non-disclosure agreements that he signed with the CIA and the NSA. According to the American authorities, Snowden was previously obliged to coordinate the text of the book with them.
“We will not allow individuals to enrich themselves at the expense of the United States by not fulfilling their review obligations before publication,” said Jodie Hunt, assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice’s Civil Department.
Commenting on the lawsuit filed against him, Snowden noted that this event made his book the best-selling in the world.
“In conclusion, this is good for bitcoin,” he added.
Recall that earlier from the documents obtained by Snowden it became known that the NSA is closely monitoring Bitcoin users. A former intelligence officer called the public blockchain the main drawback of the first cryptocurrency.
